Claudio Talmelli joins the board of NIB biotec

In 2024 the company received a major loan from EIT Health, an organization supported by the European Community, for the industrial development of this device.

Europa Uomo, the association that deals with prostate cancer

The association Europa Uomo is an organization of free citizens founded in 2003 with the aim of defending the rights of men to be informed about prostate cancer and its prevention. It is committed to ensuring access to early diagnosis and receiving the best possible care in specialized and multidisciplinary centres.

Europa Uomo is part of a coalition European which includes 27 national associations. They work together with institutions, scientific societies, hospitals and research centres, and the private sector to ensure equal access to quality diagnosis and treatment for men across Europe¹.

Among the initiatives promoted by Europa Uomo, there are:

• Novembre Azzurro: A national information campaign on prostate cancer that takes place every year in November to raise awareness of the disease and the importance of prevention¹.
• I Venerdì di Europa Uomo: Group meetings led by a psychologist to improve the quality of life of men affected by prostate cancer and their families.
• La Rivista Europa Uomo: An information tool that deals with early diagnosis, treatment options, psycho-physical rehabilitation and the latest research innovations.

Furthermore, the association is active in dialogue with institutions to improve health policies and supports scientific research to fight prostate cancer.

Who is Claudio Talmelli

From 23 January 2024 Claudio Talmelli was appointed new President of Europa Uomo Italia, with the aim of strengthening patient support programs, developing awareness initiatives, consolidating collaboration with the scientific community, supporting research and strengthening communication (source).

Graduated in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies and in Pharmacy, with a doctorate in Organic Chemistry from the University of Ferrara and an MDA Master from SDA Bocconi, he has long experience as a pharmaceutical manager. He has worked in prestigious pharmaceutical companies such as Schering Plow, Farmitalia-Carlo Erba, Pfizer and collaborated with scientific societies and sector publishing. 

The patient community and health professionals are observing this synergy with great interest, hoping that it can be the prelude to new and more effective strategies in the fight against prostate cancer. With Talmelli's support, the NIB biotec project will receive an important acceleration.
