Prostate volume calculation
In the reports of a multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) of the prostate , you can find the measurements of the three main diagonals used to calculate the volume of the prostate.
They are commonly indicated with the following acronyms:
It also helps to plan treatment, as very large prostates may require different therapeutic approaches.
Normal Prostate Size
In a healthy adult man, the prostate generally has the following dimensions (source):
- Lenght: 3-4 cm
- Width: 4-5 cm
- Depth: 2-3 cm
- Volume: 20-30 milliliters (or cc)
- Weight: 15-20 grams
Calculate the volume of your prostate
Below you will find a calculator that allows you to estimate the volume of your prostate by simply entering the three dimensions detected by MRI or ultrasound.
A useful tool for doctors, researchers, and patients who want to better understand their medical records.
