Prostate cancer: what are the symptoms?
The tumore alla prostata is the most widespread oncological disease in humans, especially with increasing age.
Generally the tumor progresses very slowly and in the early stages of its development it remains confined to the prostate.
For this reason the initial symptoms are very poor and usually overlap with thebenign prostatic hyperplasia, very common in men over 50, or a prostatitis, more common in the age group under 50.
However, in some cases prostate cancer can grow rapidly and become very aggressive, which is why it is a good idea to undergo periodic check-ups starting from a certain age, especially if there have been other cases of the disease in the family.
This recommendation is mainly linked to the fact that in the initial stages the disease does not show signs of its presence and a late diagnosis, when the tumor has already attacked other organs, makes therapies less effective.
When symptoms begin to appear, they depend on the severity and spread of the cancer.
I sintomi del tumore alla prostata tendono a presentarsi quando la malattia è already at an advanced stage and generally when the size of the tumor is such that it puts pressure on theurethra.
WHAT CAN BE THE SYMPTOMS OF PROSTATE CANCER?
- Blood in the semen (or hematospermia) or in the urine (hematuria): is frequently found following benign prostatic hyperplasia, infezioni delle vie urinarie (es. uretrite), della prostata (prostatitis) o dei testicoli (es. epididimite).
In the presence of these symptoms it is always better to contact your doctor or specialist; However, it is best not to be alarmed because in most cases these are benign problems.
